Public Authorities
Since October 2008 Display Energy Certificates have been required for buildings that are occupied by a public authority or an institution which is regularly visited by members of the public, and that is at least 1000m2 in area, although smaller buildings will be affected in the future.
This legislation applies to:
- Government and Councils
- NHS Trusts and Hospitals
- Schools and Colleges
- Police Stations and Courts
- Prisons
- Some MOD and Armed Forces Buildings
- Other government agencies and departments
- Regulatory bodies eg: Financial Services Authority
Despite being less in depth than a full Energy report, they must be compiled by a fully qualified and accredited commercial energy assessor who has also taken the additional qualification to certify public buildings and must be renewed every year.
